Today I would like to honor Cinco de Mayo (Mexico’s victory over French forces)!! Many mistakenly think Cinco de Mayo is Mexico’s Independence Day (actually September 16, 1821), others use this day as a day of eating scrumptious Mexican food, but even fewer realize it is actually a time to acknowledge the successful battle against the French by the greatly outnumbered Puebla army, in 1862. This marks the last time the Americas has been invaded by another continent. The date is primarily celebrated in the US and Puebla by eating Mexican food, enjoying folkloric music and dance. Here I would like to exhibit some incredible Mexican Folk Costumes, art in their own right!
