Landscape with Snow (1888)

Landscape with Snow (1888)
Painted in February of 1888, Van Gogh painted the dreary furrowed fields of winter. A lone figure with his dog trudge toward home. Located in the Guggenheim, I was moved to view this painting this past weekend.

In the beginning...

this blog page will officially begin January 1, 2010. Each day a post will appear detailing information about one or more famous artist on their birthday. The page will include pictures and descriptions of their artwork, interesting facts about their lives, and past personal experiences of mine as I traveled to view ther work. Throughout the year I am sure I will visit various galleries and museums, so will include those experiences as well. I will rely heavily on the charming "Birthday Book" published by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1977. Sound familiar? I will admit I did get the initial idea from the recent film "Julie and Julia" and it has simply snowballed from there! So see you January 1st...let's celebrate some birthdays!
